RaidOx - out and about in Oxfordshire - 22-11-2009

If you were in Oxford City centre on Saturday 21st November, then you may have been witness to some rather bizarre goings on. Explorer Scouts from Witney, Banbury and Abingdon converged upon Oxford to compete in the inaugural RaidOx Trophy – an event best summed up as a scavenger hunt meets the X-Factor meets Inspector Morse style super sleuthing.

Throughout the weekend the teams faced challenges like performing hits form the musical Fame in Bonn Square, dressing up as the runners from those 118-118 adverts and perform a warm-up routine by the Carfax tower and creating Lego models, Big Art Union flags and baking White Horse cakes as well as more general question answering; questions like what is in drawer L29.1 of the Pitt Rivers museum?

The weekend culminated at Youlbury Campsite for the marking of the questions (dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland) and the presentation of the inaugural RaidOx Trophy. Well done to Abingdon who took top spot, followed by Kingsfield in second and Witney in third place; excellent effort all round guys!

Keep a beady eye out for next year’s competition and watch out for more videos on the RaidOx facebook page!

Photos will soon be found here, or you can post your own pictures of the event on the RaidOx facebook page.
