If you're 14 to 18 and want to enjoy Scouting you can do so by joining Explorer Scouting. As an Explorer Scout you get to take part in all the usual great Scouting activities such as kayaking, climbing, orienteering... as well as work on projects helping to support your local community.

You can also, if you choose, get more closely involved in working with the younger Sections as a Young Leader.

RaidOx 2010 – Mexican Carrots, Black Cats and Moo-Moos

Members of the public at train ticket offices knew; queues of people at bus stops knew; and shoppers at Sainsbury’s definitely knew – there was a wheel barrow race on at Christ Church meadow at 2PM on Saturday! This was just one of the many stunts that teams had to pull off in RaidOx 2010, held over the weekend of 29-31 October.  Teams from Yarnton, Kingsfield, Abingdon and Network pounded the streets of Oxford looking for blue plaques, men on roofs and boys riding tortoises as well as having to get creative carving fleur de lys pumpkins and pitching a tent in Wellington Square. A Halloween theme continued through the performance elements, with teams performing a Thriller routine in Bonn Square and dressing up as members of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

With as many of the 50 questions attempted, the Units then assembled at the Training Centre at Youlbury on Sunday afternoon to submit their answers and with the points totted up this year’s winners and retaining the RaidOx Trophy were Abingdon ESU; Falcon ESU were second with Network a very close third after some technical issues, and a magnificently styled Kingsfield in 4th place. It was a terrific effort from all the teams and I hope to see you all at RaidOx 2011; 18-20 November 2011
