I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jo Cockcroft to the Regional Development Service. Jo will be working with the RDS but exclusively in Oxfordshire and on Oxfordshire projects. Her post is joint funded by the County and the Development Grants Board at Gilwell.

I joined the Scout Movement as a venture scout. I was already a member of 1st Sandy Scout and Guide band with whom I competed in the BYBA and DCUK as a member of the brass section. Although my flugelhorn has not seen the light of day for some years, I still remember those days fondly. With the ventures we completed a variety of expeditions and had a go at a variety of different activities.

I am married and have a son - who is a very lively 2 year old! I also have 3 teenage step children who visit at weekends.

I previously worked for Bedfordshire Scouts in a similar role and am looking forward to building on those experiences to work with Oxfordshire.

Should you wish to contact me the best way is by email on joanne.cockcroft@scouts.org.uk or on my mobile 07960 534373. I would like to hear about any issues you may be having with expanding or developing your group/section, plans you have for the future of scouting in your area. Also any success stories you may have for me. I want to focus my attention on enabling more young people to experience scouting the way I did when I was younger.

Updates

Please revisit this new development area to see what projects Jo is currently working on and to get an update on what's happening in the County to promote better Scouting to more young people.
