OXFORDSHIRE SCOUTS' COOKING COMPETITION
The Oxfordshire County Scout Cooking Competition is an event that is held every year. Each District is represented by a team of four Scouts, who compete to win the competition. The teams have to cook a three course meal using all of the set ingredients, while only using the equipment specified.
A great deal of planning and practice has to be undertaken to satisfy the judges. Often Districts hold their own local competitions to find their best team to put forward for the County competition.
This event has been running for many years with the continued support from Raymond Blanc, and the highly skilled Chefs from his local award winning restaurant Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisins. We are also supported by Q Hotels by the kind donation of the use of their Oxford Belfry Hotel to hold the competition.
The event attracts some of the best Scout Chefs in the County. The scouts that have attended in past events have put a tremendous amount of effort into to the food they produce. The teams are judged by a team of judges which include some of Raymond Blanc's own Chefs! The pressure is on for the Scouts to impress the judging team, but also an amazing opportunity to work with some of the best Chefs in the Country.
The winning teams often get invited to visit Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisinsand to spend a day in their training kitchens. This is a very rare opportunity where the lucky Scouts get the chance to cook in a two Michelin Star restaurant with the finest of ingredients under the guidance of their chefs.
Due to the ongoing changes to the Districts we will be allowing one team to enter from each District, apart from recently merged Districts where we will allow two teams to enter.
All the ingredients are provided and the event is free to enter. So with the possibility of an amazing prize, the opportunity shouldn't be missed!!
