Awards Day 12th May 2018

In Oxfordshire we have annual celebrations to recognise young people achieving the top awards in their section. 2018 is no different, however we have changed the nomination process slightly, please see our facts below:

What’s new with the awards day nomination process?

The nomination process for Oxfordshire awards has altered slightly, the changes being that the nomination form will be open all year around. We made the choice to keep the form open to aid in the administration purposes of logging the awards, now you can log them as they are achieved.

 

Why do I need to nominate my young people?

Recognition is a great way for us to celebrate young people in Scouting achieving top awards, our annual awards day is focused on rewarding young people for their continued and committed efforts in achieving their award.

Without your nominations we are unable to invite them to join the celebrations.

 

I have lots of people to nominate, is there an easier way to nominate them all at once?

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by March 16th 2018. Nominations received after this date will be carried forward to the 2019 awards day celebrations.

 

When is the cut-off for Awards Day 2018

The cut-off dates for Awards Day 2018 is March 16th 2018. The nomination form will remain open, but nominations made after the cut-off date will be carried over and invited to attend the 2019 Awards Day celebrations. Unfortunately, we are unable to except any changes to those nominated after this point.

 

How do I know who has been invited to the County Awards Day celebrations?

We will be sending a list out to the Group Scout Leader, District Explorer Scout Commissioner and District Commissioners to notify them of who has been invited from their Groups, Units and Districts. They will then be able to inform you, who from your section has been invited.

 

When do invites need to be accepted?

Invites will need to be accepted by 20th April 2018, it is essential that all invites are accepted by this date to allow the awards day team time to complete their final preparations.  No exceptions to this rule will be considered.

Invites that are not accepted will automatically be noted as not attending Awards Day 2018.

 

How do I know who has yet to accept their invite?

We will send out a report detailing who has accepted, declined and not responded to our invite, a week before the deadline to the Groups Scout Leader, District Explorer Scout Commissioner and District. This is your chance to nudge those yet to respond. After the deadline we will notify the Groups Scout Leader, District Explorer Scout Commissioner and District Commissioners of who is and isn’t attending.

 

There are members of my section who can’t attend – do they still get their certificate and woggle?

Yes, we will post out the certificates and woggles to the Group Scout Leader of each group to ensure every award recipient invited to awards day 2018 has received their personalized certificate and awards day woggle.
