County Patrol Camping Weekend 6th to 8th October 2017 Horley Scout Campsite.
[/col] [/row]

What is it?

Oxfordshire’s County Patrol Camping Weekend is a fun weekend camp where your Troop leaders will not camp with you, but there will be plenty of adults around to make sure you are OK. You will also get to try out a wide range of activities and the chance to meet other Scouts from all over Oxfordshire.

You will camp as a Patrol and cook your own food over altar fires. If not every member of your normal Troop Patrol can come, then you can make up a Patrol from your Troop, but you should try to make sure it is as near as possible to a normal Troop Patrol, i.e. 4 to 7 Scouts, including one PL, one APL and a range of ages.

Scroll down toward the bottom of this page for specific information for Patrol Leaders and Scout Leaders.

Where is it? The camp is at Horley Scout Campsite, Wroxton Road, Horley, Banbury OX15 6AU from Friday 6 October to Sunday 8 October 2017. It costs £27 per Scout, but ALL of your activities and the Saturday evening meal are included.

This years Theme:

Saturday teatime is a huge “bring and share” picnic based on the theme of “jungle”. Each Patrol should bring some food (including one hot, savoury item) and dress-up based on their interpretation of the theme. Points will be awarded for food and costumes.

Getting there:

You will need to arrange to be dropped off at Horley Scout Campsite with your kit and camping equipment between 1800 hrs and 2000 hrs on the Friday evening. Please arrive as a team together and keep the number of vehicles to a minimum.

Closing:

The closing ceremony and presentations will be at 1600 hrs on the Sunday afternoon. Please encourage your parents/carers and Scout Leaders to join us for the presentations.

Aqua Camp 2017

  [/col] [/row]
When is it? Aqua Camp is taking place 16th - 18th June 2017
What is it? Aqua Camp is a County event open to all Scout Troops in Oxfordshire. It sets out to provide both beginners and the more experienced Scouts with the opportunity to:
  • Take part in a wide range of water activities, which they may not otherwise have access to
  • Experience a large Scout section event, with the chance to meet hundreds of other Scouts
  • Enjoy a weekend camping with their Troop, that contributes towards their own badge work
We also offer kayaking, open canoes, raft building, sailing, gig pulling and dragon boating, alongside some additional land activities, and of course evening entertainment too.
How do we book? Bookings are open between 5th March and 29th April 2017 and are offered on a first come first served basis. However due to this we often have a reserve list of unsuccessful participants who get first offering on this popular event.
